But that shift has been in discussion for several years in South Korea, in academic circles and also policy circles on what role South Korea should play beyond just the security on the Korean peninsula. Can they separately do that on the current circumstances with North Korea? That is hard to say. Really politically do that given the way China might react to it? Hard to say. These are the types of decisions that the South Korean government will need to make¡±

That is a matter of negotiation between the two governments. Certainly not something that I need to comment on¡¦I just hope that it does not get overly politicized as this one year cycle is unusual and it seemed to move thing away from the Hanoi summit but also moving closer to the election cycles for the National Assembly and then later for the US government¡±
