ÇÏÁö¸¸ ·Î¹öŸ ÄÚÇî Àü ±¹¹«ºÎ ÀαǴã´ç ºÎÂ÷°üº¸´Â ¡°Çѱ¹ÀÌ À¯¿£ ¾Èº¸¸® ºñ»óÀÓ À̻籹ÀÌ µÇ±â¸¦ ¹Ù¶ó´Âµ¥, ±¹Á¦ÆòÈ­¡¤¾Èº¸¿Í À뱂 Á¸Áß »çÀÌÀÇ °ü°è¸¦ ÀÎÁ¤ÇÏ°í ±×·± °ü°è¸¦ ÁõÁøÇØ¾ß ¼¼°è ÆòÈ­¿¡ ´õ Å©°Ô ±â¿©ÇÒ °Í¡±À̶ó°í °­Á¶Çß½À´Ï´Ù.

[·Î¹öŸ ÄÚÇî Àü ±¹¹«ºÎ ÀαǴã´ç ºÎÂ÷°üº¸]¡°South Korea, moreover, is hoping to become a member of the Security Council. It would make more of a contribution to world peace if it were to recognize the relationship between international peace and security and respect for human rights and promote that connection.¡±

Yet the whole purpose of the United Nations is to bring those issues together. ¡±

·Î¹öÆ® Å· Àü ±¹¹«ºÎ ºÏÇÑÀÎ±ÇÆ¯»ç´Â ¡°ºÏÇѰú ÇÔ²² ÀÏÇÒ ¼ö ÀÖÁö¸¸, ±×·¸´Ù°í ÇØ¼­ ºÏÇÑÀÇ Áöµ¶ÇÑ À뱂 À¯¸° ÇàÀ§¸¦ µ¤À» ÇÊ¿ä´Â ¾ø´Ù¡±¸ç Çѱ¹ Á¤ºÎÀÇ ¼Ò±ØÀûÀÎ À뱂 Á¤Ã¥¿¡ ´ëÇØ ¡°À¯°¨½º·´´Ù¡±´Â ÀÔÀåÀ» ¹àÇû½À´Ï´Ù.

South Korea was one of the leading sponsors of the resolution both in New York at the General Assembly and in Geneva at the UN Human Rights Council.¡±

[±×·¹±× ½ºÄ®¶óÆ© HRNK »ç¹«ÃÑÀå]¡°South Korea used to be a member of the coalition of like-minded UN member states that pushed for significant action on North Korean human rights. We remember who those members were: the United States, South Korea, Japan, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and others. South Korea has completely given up the high ground it once held on North Korean human rights. The government of President Moon Jae-in has sacrificed North Korean human rights on the altar of wishful thinking, and so called engagements with the North Korean leadership.¡±

[±×·¹±× ½ºÄ®¶óÆ© HRNK »ç¹«ÃÑÀå]¡°It is truly saddening and disheartening to see how the government of South Korea has chosen to ignore the crimes against humanity committed by the Kim regime in North Korea. It is truly tragic. Sad to see how the government of South Korea is completely ignoring the egregious human rights violations being perpetrated by the Kim regime.¡±

[·Î¹öŸ ÄÚÇî Àü ±¹¹«ºÎ ÀαǴã´ç ºÎÂ÷°üº¸]¡°South Korea's non sponsorship of the resolution is unfortunate. It is a highly political response. It's basically expressing fear of North Korea's being displeased, if they were to co sponsor the text as they used to do. And this fear of North Korean displeasure is not shared by other states at the United Nations, the European Union, drafted and introduced the text.¡±

¡°¹Ì±¹, ÀϺ», È£ÁÖ µîÀÌ ¸ðµÎ °øµ¿ Á¦¾È±¹¿¡ À̸§À» ¿Ã·È´Âµ¥, À¯µ¶ Çѱ¹¸¸ ºÏÇÑ¿¡ °ÌÀ» ¸Ô°í, À뱂 ¿ì·Á¸¦ ÀÏÃàÇÏ¸é ºÏÇÑÀÌ ºñÇÙÈ­¿Í ÆòÈ­ÇùÁ¤À» Çù»óÇÒ °ÍÀ̶ó°í ¹Ï´Â´Ù¡±´Â ºñÆÇÀÔ´Ï´Ù.

[·Î¹öŸ ÄÚÇî Àü ±¹¹«ºÎ ÀαǴã´ç ºÎÂ÷°üº¸]¡°The United States is a co-sponsor, Japan is a co-sponsor, Australia is a co-sponsor and various other states. So South Korea really stands out in my mind as a state being intimidated by North Korea and believing that if human rights are dismissed as an issue of concern that North Korea will therefore negotiate a denuclearization and peace agreement. That linkage is South Korea's view. And so far there's no evidence to support that.¡±
