미국 인도·태평양 사령부는 29일 북한의 중거리 탄도미사일 발사와 관련해 “우리는 북한의 탄도미사일 발사를 알고 있으며, 한국, 일본을 비롯한 역내 동맹·파트너들과 긴밀히 협의하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.

<미국 인도·태평양 사령부>“We are aware of the DPRK’s ballistic missile launch today and are consulting closely with the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Japan, as well as other regional allies and partners. The United States condemns these actions and calls on the DPRK to refrain from further destabilizing acts. While we have assessed that this event does not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel, territory, or that of our allies, we will continue to monitor the situation. The U.S. commitment to the defense of the ROK and Japan, remains ironclad.”


이어 “미국은 이런 행동을 규탄하며 북한에 상황을 더욱 불안정하게 만드는 행동을 자제할 것을 촉구한다”고 밝혔습니다. 또한 “이번 발사가 미국의 인력과 영토, 혹은 동맹국의 인력과 영토에 즉각적인 위협을 가하지는 않는다고 평가하지만 상황을 계속 주시할 것”이라며 “한국과 일본에 대한 미국의 방어 공약은 여전히 철통같다”고 강조했습니다.
