조 바이든의 승리연설에서 靈感이 느껴지는 대목이 있다.

"나는 오랫동안 미국의 영혼을 위한 싸움에 대하여 이야기해온 바 있습니다. 우리는 미국의 영혼을 회복해야 합니다. 우리나라는 우리가 가진 선한 본성과 우리가 가진 어두운충동 사이의 끊임없는 대결에 의하여 형성되어 왔습니다. 지금은 선한 본성이 이겨야 할 때입니다. 오늘밤 全세계가 미국을 지켜보고 있습니다. 나는 최고의 미국은 지구의 등불이라고 믿습니다. 그리고 우리는 우리의 힘을 과시하는 것이 아니라 우리의 모범에서 생긴 힘으로 세계를 이끌 것입니다. 나는 미국을 한 단어로 정의할 수 있다고 믿습니다. 가능성! 미국에선 모든 사람들이 그들의 꿈과 神이 주신 능력이 갈 수 있는 곳까지 갈 수 있는 기회를 부여받아야 합니다. 나는 이 나라의 가능성을 믿습니다."

트럼프 4년은 미국의 영혼을 지켜야 할 임무를 부여받은 대통령이 거짓, 선동, 무례, 탐욕의 모법을 보여 그 영혼을 망가뜨린 시기였다. 세계의 등불 역할을 해야 하는데 그 등불이 꺼진 것이다. 그 틈을 타고 푸틴, 김정은 같은 어둠의 세력이 활개를 쳤다. 바이든이 말하는 치유는 이런 영혼의 치유일 것이다. 문재인 치하 한국의 영혼도 비슷한 처지이다. 한국의 영혼을 어떻게 회복할 것인가, 2022년의 과제이다.

That in America everyone should be given the opportunity to go as far as their dreams and God-given ability will take them.
