.*여행중 만난 사람들 99 (English version is below) .
Thanks. . -------------- . *People met on my backpacking 99
(Surprised by the daring behavior of Casa ladies.) . There’s a small cafe in front of the hostel where I was staying. They enjoyed tea and coffee there. Although it’s not such a café with stylish and clean facilities in the West, the atmosphere was just like a cafe in Europe. People sitting on the chairs in the street, drinking tea, chatting with people who smoke, people looking at the distant sky, in addition, there were many people just sitting at the hostel entrance where I was staying. They were some kind of guides. When travelers asked them for a guide, they did it and got paid. However, their looks were so poor and shabby. . They were descendants of the Muhammad who once proudly conquered the most land of the continent. But what about those glorious offsprings today? It’s like a shipwreck drifting on a wave of modernity. What happened to them? They didn’t win against the real world flow. Where were their ancestor’s blood? Where were all the courage and wisdom that their ancestors conquered the world bravely? They didn't seem to work hard but just spent time drinking coffee and smoking sitting on the streets. What they did was only to wait to be called by a traveler. So they didn’t seem to me they were as brilliant and brave as their ancestors. It was sad for me to see them sitting like that for a long time.
Looked around the plaza and parks here. It's one of my favorate things while traveling around the world. Casablanca's parks and squares were also very beautiful one. In particular, such as the Mahomet Five Square, Mirabo Square, Mureus Yusef Square and the Arab League Park. The Mulhouse Yusef Square next to the new Medina was fun in many ways. It’s different from the Shidakeroi Square or the Mohamed V Square, which had the old Medina. Especially the new generation and the old generation were so well contrasted. . Well, I seemed to have walked too much today. I overused my feet. My feet complained a lot about it. I knew how to make my feet happy at least for two hours! Going to a movie theater. . When entered the center of the city, I found a few theaters. Picked up an erotic movie and entered. Wondering what the atmosphere of the theater there was. However, unlike the appearance of the building, the internal facilities and environment were very poor. When entered the indoor theater, the cigarette smoke was so bad that I couldn’t see the front. And unpleasant odor vibrated. It smelled of toilets. It turned out that the bathroom was not in the outdoors but in the space next to the stage. To make matters worse, the toilet door was falling apart. It stank! No air conditioner of course! . After a while, a girl approached me. She asked me some tip for a seat for me. I didn't know what to do. If she wanted a tip, she should lead me first. While looking at her without saying anything, she made a strange look with her fingers and said that I should tip. I felt uneasy anyway. It was not a place for me to relax. In this case, the sooner to leave there the better. Frankly, it’s very uneasy to sit alone in a dark theater in a strange city. Nevertheless, when visiting another country, I tried to do it once. Not because I really wanted to see a movie but because to see their theater culture. It helped me to understand the social culture of the country. . Casa, which was the most central of the city, was a modernized city comparable to the capital city of Rabat. Famous Hyatt hotels, Swiss hotels and other deluxe hotels were noteworthy. It showed me the city of modern North Africa. When walking down the street, there were many people who came to the side and spoke to me. A person who started greeting in Japanese, fluent English, holding my arm, asking for a cigarette, suggested a good place for resting, you name it. Hard for me to avoid them. Made me tired of them! . Got into the center of the city after a long walk. I sat down in a quite cafe on the street. While having a cup of coffee and smoke a cigarette, and someone tapped on my back. When turnning around, a lady dressed in noisy clothes and dark makeup greeted me with a smile. What a surprise! I had no idea! She smiled at me and asked me for a cigarette and set beside me. Big black eyes, tall noses, a little thick lips painted pink rouge, her long brown hairs blew in the wind and touched her lips. She came close to me as she puffed out the cigarette smoke. Her soft voice whispered like whispering into my ear. . “Are you alone? Are you Japanese? Um…Can you speak English? I like you. I want to enjoy with you, ok? I will make you happy…” .
She suggested that we enjoy together. It's unexpected happening. There were many people at the street cafe in the daytime. Of course, almost all the guests at every table enjoyed talking over coffee. I was so confused about this lady who was explicitly tempting me in this environment. Made up my mind to pretend not to know English at all. Looking at my strange attitude, she seemed to be confused, too. Showing her frustrating face, she smoked a cigarette continuously, came closer to me and touched my body. She explained to me in her body language. Oh, my God. I was overwhelmed. I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t sit down anymore. At this time, 5pm, I got up quietly and left the place. I knew my behavior was also awkward, but there’s no alternative. Well, it’s also a unique experience that I, as a solo traveler, had to deal with. . . Thanks.
