프란치스코 로마 가톨릭 교황이 29일 문재인 한국 대통령을 접견하고 한반도 평화 발전에 대한 희망을 공유했다고 교황청이 밝혔습니다.

교황청 대변인실은 29일 VOA에 보낸 이메일에서, 두 지도자의 대화 중에 “양국 간 상호 좋은 관계와 가톨릭 교회가 사회에 제공하는 긍정적인 공헌에 대한 사의가 표시됐다"고 밝혔습니다. 아울러 “남북 간 대화 증진과 화해를 위해 전개되는 특별한 부단한 노력”도 환기됐다고 말했습니다.

[교황청]“During the cordial discussions, appreciation was expressed for the good bilateral relations between the States and for the positive contribution the Catholic Church offers to society, evoking particular diligence in the promotion of dialogue and reconciliation between Koreans. In this regard, hopes were shared that joint effort and good will may favour peace and development in the Korean peninsula, supported by solidarity and by fraternity. The talks then allowed an exchange of views on some themes regarding current regional affairs and humanitarian issues.”

이런 측면에서 “공동의 노력과 선의가 연대와 형제애의 지원을 받는 한반도의 평화와 발전을 가져올 것이라는 희망이 공유됐다”고 대변인실은 전했습니다. 대변인실은 이어 두 지도자가 현재 지역 현안과 인도적 문제와 관련한 알부 주제들에 대해 의견을 교환했다고 밝혔습니다. VOA 뉴스 안소영입니다.
